The Student Pilot License
You must have your Student Pilot License before you can be endorsed for, and conduct a solo flight.
You can begin training with a Flight Instructor without a Student Pilot License, but this is not encouraged at CEFS.
Obtaining your Student Pilot License early-on ensures you will be able to continue your training and solo at the appropriate time.
To begin the screening process for obtaining your Student Pilot License, visit the IACRA site at https://iacra.faa.gov/IACRA/Default.aspx and establish an account. As you can imagine, the TSA (Transportation Security Agency) will ask many questions.
Your Student Pilot License allows you to fly solo as long as you have the proper endorsement from your Flight Instructor prior to the flight.
Technically, as a Student Pilot your Flight Instructor remains Pilot-in-Command until you become a Private Pilot.
